Suggestions thread

Hey! Here are a few suggestions I could come up with while playing the game for a couple of hours. I will focus mainly on Quality-Of-Life improvements that should be easy(ish) to implement. Please feel free to tune in with your own ideas too, everyone!

Quality of Life:

  1. When pressing Esc with inventory/homes/item info/etc.. just close that tab instead of showing the disconnect pop-up.
  2. When having the disconnect pop-up open (Esc pressed), pressing Esc again should close it. Realistically, solving #1 should solve this too if done in the correct way.
  3. Ctrl+Number to switch between chat channels (Ctrl+1 for all chat, Ctrl+2 for local, etc..)
  4. Allow for only a single menu pop-up to be open. Opening a pop-up while having another pop-up open should close the first one (having the inventory open, opening the homes list should close the inventory). One exception here would be Inventory + Item info.
  5. Make friend request messages clickable to open accept/reject pop-up for direct access, rather than going to the friends list. You could opt for the original Onverse functionality and left-clicking a name in the chat to open the player actions (similar to right-clicking a player avatar)
  6. Include the speed boost % of mounts in their item descriptions.
  7. When trying to break a PP target with incorrect tool, display also the tool you need in the chat message.
  8. When opening the map, have your current world open first. Saves a few clicks when wanting to just teleport to a different POI in the same world
  9. Do not automatically pick up gift boxes. One of the best features, community-wise, of Onverse was that people were sharing their gift boxes with each other
  10. Have the possibility to see all players in the same world, similar to the “Nearby” list currently
  11. Have the possibility to mass-sell items directly from your inventory. Since the logic is in place to mass-sell to Seymor, it should be easy-ish to add to the inventory too
  12. Add a hover cursor on player avatars, similar to how you get a hover cursor on items you can interact with.
  13. Do not dismount when using an avatar cannon.
  14. Do not dismount when teleporting to another location on the same map.
  15. Increase right-click max distance. In the MetroviewMotos you cannot right-click the car in the middle unless you go close enough that you get pushed around by it.
  16. Double-clicking a purchaseable item should open the purchase dialogue.
  17. Add possibility to equip all tools. The only reason is that it would allow for more creative actions by players.
  18. When manually rotating your avatar camera (for example to see your face), pressing TAB should rotate your avatar in a way that it is the default camera angle (back of your avatar).
  19. Add hover effect on the “Get VIP” button in top-right corner. Currently you would not know it is a button unless you have played the game before.

Movement:

  1. When in the air, keep your inertia when releasing a direction key (if you are running with W and jump, releasing W should not make you stop in one place). This one would probably be much more difficult than the rest but it feels essential for the original feeling of Onverse movement.

Edit: Turns out I was experiencing the inertia loss only when on a mount. That is not an issue when dismounted.

  2. It feels like the speed boost % right now is too great compared to Onverse’s mounts (talking about the 9,999PP bike here, since it is the only mount I managed to get)

  3. When in Equip Mode (TAB) do not rotate your avatar with Q/E. Instead, they should also make you move sideways. There is no point in rotating with the keys when your mouse is doing that.

PP Hunting:

  1. Some more PP targets around the worlds. You could have the community help by analyzing old Onverse videos and locating PP targets around the world.
  2. Bigger Tier-3 PP targets in predetermined locations. Onverse used to have them and they had increased prizes (higher PP drops and possibly higher gift box drop chances).
  3. Have your tools activate and do their animation regardless of whether you are standing in front of a PP target for a smoother experience. Now the tools don’t always perform their animation when breaking a PP target either.

Quality of Life #20. Make the ovTwo application logo blink when you get a private message. Useful when you just want to AFK somewhere while working on something else on your computer but would like to know when someone messages privately

The More PP Targets will come once the other maps are released (what’s the progress on Candy Coast, never got to experience it)?

Quality Of Life #21: Add air jump particles for visual feedback. It serves no purpose other than for visual stimulation.

Movement #4: Currently when you run off an edge (for example using W) you cannot jump back with S while mid-air. In Onverse, the act of jumping would cancel all momentum. Example: Imagine having double jump. If you would run forward and jump then let go of W, it would keep the momentum forward. However, the moment you use your second jump it would cancel all momentum and just jump again. If you would instead jump while pressing S, you would suddenly be flying backwards. This mechanic was quite essential in obstacle courses.

Quality Of Life #22: Add system messages and announcement in all chat tabs. You would not like to miss an announcement just because you were in your private messages.

Quality Of Life #23: Add chat tab icons for when there are unread messages in the chat. Currently you would not be able to tell that you got a private message unless you have opened your “All” or “Private” chat tabs.

Quality Of Life #24: Make chat message texts selectable. Useful when you would like to share a link, your username in social media, etc..

Mini-Games #1: When done with powerups, add double-jump as a permanent power-up in Icefall games. Currently it is almost impossible to win a game, since you have to last until the end and it is impossible to reach the far away platforms with a single jump.
